You may see these petal beads from the shops and do not know what to do with them. Therefore, this tutorial will give you an idea how to use these beads.

Same rules apply here. Just don't sell my tutorial as pdf, word document or whatever forms. But you can follow my tutorial to make the finished motifs and sell them. This is okay for me. If you are new to my tutorials, please read Bead Tutorial User Info

Tutorial : Flower Motif #6
Level : Beginner
Technique : Cross-weaving

Equipment :
- Swarovski Bicone 4mm
- Seed bead 11/O
- Chinese Petal beads 13x20 mm.
- Clear nylon thread no.25

This motif is my design and I don't have a pattern of it.

The finished flower is 4 cm in diameter. It is quite big. If you need something small, please try to use the smaller petal beads.

The crystal here are Sapphire AB2X and Padparadscha AB2X.

1.

Cut the nylon thread around 1 m. Make a ring of five seed beads.

2.

Add one crystal, one seed bead, one crystal, one seed bead to one thread. Cross both threads at a new crystal (red arrow).

3.

Put the inner thread into the next seed bead of the ring we first made in step 1 (red arrow).

4.

Pick up the other thread, add one seed bead, one crystal and one seed bead. Cross both threads at a new crystal (red arrow).

5.

Repeat step 3 and 4 around the ring of seed beads.

After that, cross both threads at a crystal (red arrow).

6.

Pick up any thread, add one seed bead (red arrow). Put that thread into the next crystal (blue arrow).

7.

Repeat step 6 around the motif. Pull the thread tight, you will get a dome.

8.

Now, we will add a petal. Pick up one thread, add one seed bead and one petal. Cross both threads at a seed bead (red arrow).

9.

There is a large gap between two petals, therefore, I need to add more beads here.

Put the inner thread into the seed bead (red arrow). Cross both thread at a new seed bead (blue arrow).

If you use smaller petal, you may skip this step.

10.

Put the inner thread into the crystal (red arrow). Add one petal to the other thread. Cross both threads at a seed bead (blue arrow).

11.

Repeat step 9 and 10 around the motif.

12.

Add one new crystal between the petal around the motif (red arrows). Pull the threads tight. You can string back into the beads to tighten the motif.

The finished flower is rather big. The diameter is around 4 cm. But they are very lovely and will make a nice opera necklace for me.

Happy beading!

I had some of these petal beads and could not think of what to do with them. I made one of these flowers for a friend, and she keeps it on her bag all the time now as a charm. Thanks for such a cool idea!
