Feb. 26th, 2011 @ 01:48 pm [Tutorial] Vaire
Tutorial : Vaire
Level : Intermediate
Technique : Crossweaving

Vaire is one of the Valar from Tolkien's Silmarillion.

Equipment:

- Pearl 4 mm (Swarovski - light green, light blue, power rose, bronze and white)
- Miyuki Twisted Bugle bead 12 mm. (Miyuki - TW12 #2006)
- Seed bead 11/0 (Miyuki - 11-2035)
- Nylon thread no.25

1.

On comfortable length of nylon thread, add four seed beads, one bugle bead, and four seed beads.

2.

Put the thread into the seed bead next to the bugle bead (red arrow). Do the same for the other side.

Cross both threads at the bugle bead (blue arrow).

3.

Add three seed beads to each thread.

4.

Put the thread into the seed bead from the previous step (red arrows) and into the first seed bead of this step (blue arrows).

Cross both threads at the bugle bead (green arrow).

5.

Add one seed bead, one pearl and one seed bead to each thread. Cross both threads at the bugle bead (red arrow).

6.

Add four seed beads to both threads.

7.

Put the thread into the seed bead next to the bugle bead (red arrows). Cross both threads at the bugle bead (blue arrow).

8.

Put the thread back into next two seed beads (red arrows and blue arrows).

9.

Add one pearl, one seed bead and one pearl. Put the thread into the seed bead (red arrows).

10.

Put the thread into the seed bead, pearl and seed bead that we added in step 5 (red arrows).

11.

We will tighten the pearl and seed beads together. Put the thread into the next seed bead (red arrows).

Put the thread into the pearl, seed bead and pearl that we added in step 9.

Put the thread in to the next seed bead and seed bead, pearl and seed bead that we added in step 5.

12.

Add one seed bead and one pearl to each thread. Cross both threads at the seed bead (red arrow).

13.

Add one seed bead at both threads. Cross both threads at the seed bead (red arrow).

14.

Add one pearl and one seed bead to each thread. Put the thread into seed bead, pearl and seed bead (red arrows).

15.

Cross both threads at the bugle bead (red arrow).

Put each thread into the next seed bead (blue arrows). Cross both threads at the bugle bead (green arrow).

Repeat step 3 to 15.

16.

Leave the last set without pearl embellishment.

17.

We will do the bead bar now.

Please do step 1 to 4. Repeat until you have four bugle beads.

18.

Add one seed bead (red arrows). Cross both threads at the first bugle bead (blue arrow).

19.

We will connect the four seed beads together.

Put the thread into the seed beads as order, red arrow, blue arrow, green arrow, pink arrow and into red arrow again. Do the same for the other side.

20.

String the thread to the top beads and connect the four seed beads together. Feel free to string back into seed beads to tighten them.

21.

Connect the bar to the bracelet in any way you like.

I hope this tutorial is not very confusing. It's something quite repetitive and looks rather hard but really it's not that hard.

Feel free to adjust the number of bugle beads as you see fit. My green bracelet used five bugle beads for each set and changed from pearls to bicone crystals.

Hope you will enjoy this tutorial. Happy beading!
