May. 2nd, 2011 @ 07:18 pm [Tutorial] Candy Ring
Tutorial : Candy Ring
Level : Beginner
Technique : Crossweaving.

Equipment :
- Swarovski crystals bicone 4 mm.
- Seed beads 11/0
- Nylon thread No. 25 or 30

This ring is a bit big and will wrap around your finger beautifully. I did not try with smaller beads yet, but I think it can be done with bicone 3 mm and seed beads 15/0 as well. The result should be a smaller ring.

1.

Cut the nylon thread around 90 cm. Form a ring of six seed beads.

2.

Pick up one thread, Add one crystal, one seed bead, one crystal and one seed bead. Cross both threads at a crystal (red arrow).

3.

Put the inner thread into the seed bead of the starter ring (red arrow).

Add one seed bead, one crystal and one seed bead to the other thread.

Cross both threads at the crystal (blue arrow).

4.

Repeat step 3 around the seed beads ring. You will get this basic motif.

Cross both threads at the crystal (red arrow).

5.

Pick up one thread and add one seed bead, one crystal and five seed beads.

Add one seed bead to the other thread.

Cross both threads at the crystal (red arrow).

6.

Add one seed bead to the inner thread.

Add five seed beads to the other thread.

Cross both threads at the crystal (red arrow).

7.

Pick up the inner thread and add one seed bead (red arrow).

Put this thread into the next four seed beads (blue arrows) and also the new seed bead we just added (red arrow).

Put this thread into the next crystal (green arrow). Pull the thread snugly to put the five seed beads in place.

8.

Add one seed bead to the inner thread.

Add five seed beads to the other thread.

Cross both threads at the crystal (red arrow).

9.

Repeat step 6 -8 around the motif.

When you're done, cross both threads at the middle seed bead of the five seed beads.

10.

You can do the strap as you wish. I make it simple with seed beads crossing.

11.

Measure the length of your ring carefully and connect your strap with the other side of the ring. Put your threads into the beads. Tie them together.

Done!

I hope you will like this tutorial. I also made many of this ring. It's very easy and fast to make. Enjoy!

This is a beautiful ring. I made one and I loved it so much that I promptly made another! One thing to watch out for is when making a beaded ring band, it tends to stretch out very quickly. To stop this from happening, I took a piece of 28 gauge wire strung it through an 11/0 seed bead and using the same cross weave technique as the tutorial I made the band for the second ring. Its really very simple to do especially if you have some experience with wire working...
