Tutorial : Clarissa
Level : Beginner to Intermediate

Clarissa is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.

Equipments
- Czech twin seed beads
- Czech fired polished round 4mm
- 11/0 seed beads
- Clasp & Jump rings
- Beading needle size 12 (or 10, I can't remember. lol)
- SoNo or Nymo or fireline or your favorite thread.

I made this bracelet using the free twin beads, sent to Thailand directly from Czech Republic. If you have facebook, you can visit Preciosa Ornela fan page and check out Twin for Free. You can get free 10g sample pack of twin beads and it's enough for this bracelet.

EDIT: The free campaign is over now. Thank you Preciosa Ornela for the free beads.

With bead stitch, I prefer SoNo over Nymo. But as always, you should use your favorite thread. But please make sure your thread color match the twin beads since you have to pass your thread to the other hole at the same twin beads. The thread may be visible.

I got this beautiful clasp from Valerie. Thanks!

1.

Cut the thread around 100 cm. String the alternate pattern of 11/0 seed bead and twin beads four times.

2.

Pass your needle to the first 11/0 seed bead to form a ring. Leave around 6 inches tail. You can tie your thread if you want. Sew to all beads again and to the next twin bead. Pass your needle to the other hole of the same twin bead (red arrow).

3.

Add one 11/0 seed bead, one 4mm fire polished, and one 11/0 seed bead. Pass your needle to the next twin bead (red arrow).

4

Repeat step 3 around the ring.

5.

We will continue with another layer. Pass your needle to the next 11/0 seed bead (red arrow).

String one twin bead, one 11/0 seed bead, one twin bead, one 11/0 seed bead and one twin bead. Pass your needle to the next 11/0 seed bead (blue arrow).

6.

Add one 11/0 seed bead (red arrow). Pass your needle to the next 11/0 seed bead (blue arrow).

7.

Repeat step 5 to string twin beads and 11/0 seed beads and step 6.

8.

Sew to the next twin bead. Pass your needle to the other hole of the same twin bead (red arrow).

Add one 11/0 seed bead, one twin bead and one 11/0 seed bead. Pass your needle to the next twin (blue arrow).

9.

Sorry for the blurry and wrong focus photo. :P

Add one 4mm fire polished and pass your need to the next twin bead (red arrow). Add another 4mm fire polished and pass your needle to the next twin bead (blue arrow).

10.

Repeat step 8 and 9.

You can sew back to reinforce your tension. Don't cut your thread yet. You can use the remaining thread here to connect each motif.

Make five motifs.

11.

I put jump ring to the twin bead at step 8. Some twin beads have a small hole. So if you want to use jump ring and clasp, don't forget to check that your jump rings can pass your twin beads.

12.

Now we will connect each motif together.

Exit your thread at the outer hole of the twin bead from step 8. String one 11/0 seed bead, one twin bead and one 11/0 seed bead. Pass your needle to the twin bead of the other motif.

13.

Add one 11/0 seed bead, one twin bead and one 11/0 seed bead. Pass your needle to the twin bead we start (red arrow). You can sew to all beads again to reinforce your tension.

14.

I'm sorry I can't remember what path I did. You can use saw back to your beads anyway you like. Just exit your needle at the 4mm fire polished (red arrow). Add one 11/0 seed bead and pass your needle to the next twin bead. Add another 11/0 seed bead and pass your needle to the next 4mm fire polished (blue arrow).

15.

Make a U-turn at the next twin bead and sew back into the bead anyway you like and complete step 14 to the other side.

Connect all five motifs together. Reinforce your tension if needed.

And it's done!

You can make the matching earring or pendant with this motif. The 10g. sample pack from Preciosa Ornela is enough.

Hope it's not too confusing. Happy beading!
