Feb. 25th, 2008 @ 10:32 pm [sticky post] Welcome

Welcome everybody. First thing first, please read the rules in community info.

My objective is to teach everybody who is interesting in beading to be able to bead. I know I may not be an expert but I love to share what I can do.

This is not selling community. This is not advertising community. There are other places for that.

I'm an easy person and I don't bite. Everything here is flexible. Feel free to ask questions if you're not sure about anything here.

Finally, I hope this community will be lively someday.

PS. About the thread, most of my tutorials with crossweaving technique used fishing nylon thread, something similar to Beadalon Supplemax (0.25mm/8lb). You can hand weave it without needle. But if you are not familiar with it, just use fireline or your favorite thread with two needles on both ends. Or you can use Right Angle Weave if you don't like to crossweave. Just exit your needle at the bead where the threads cross and keep good tension.

This is the tutorial index. I will update as frequently as possible.

I just came upon your community.. it's exactly what I was looking for. I have seen DIY beading books in a nearby Chinese book store (I'm Asian as well) but I can't read Chinese or Japanese so I can't understand them fully and find the diagrams quite confusing.. it's great to see your easy-to-understand translations. I look forward to your future posts/tutorials! :)

I also can't understand the Chinese table pattern, sorry. The best way is to find other patterns. LOL!

I posted the links for lots of bead books here.

But if you mean the pattern of some tutorials I posted in this communities, you are member now so you'll be able to view the pattern entries. If you need any specific one, please let me know.

Just joined the community last week and I want to thank you for all the awesome tutorials. I live in a place where glass beads are hard to find and Swarovski ones are insanely expensive, so I keep every pretty bead for something that's worth it and your pieces of jewelry sure are! Thank you once again for all the effort, I'm looking forward to new tutorials!

Hi Beejang, It is Elaine from USA and I am looking for a tutorial on how to make a Swarovski Pendant that looks like a frame, it is square with a hole in the center, kind of like a square donut and is made with 4mm bicone beads.
I could add a picture if I knew how to do that.....but I don't! Please let me know if you can help, and Thank you for all the help you have been before!

Hi Bee Jang! I have no idea what livejournal is about but I just created an account to be able to post a comment here.
I LOVE YOUR WORK! The tutorials are beautifully done and very easy to understand. I have successfully made many items from here, specifically a few weeks ago the crystal cameo bezel. Again, love it.
I hope it's ok, as I have a free blog in Portuguese I re-did the tutorial using my own pictures and instructions buti did name your site and yourself as the original design and creator.
Maybe you'd like to check it sometime? It's still a work in progress, just started it a month ago.
Please leave a comment on anything you like, Id really appreciate it!

Thank you for your kind work and wonderful artistic talent! And above all for sharing them with us!

Happy beading!

How does one end nylon cord and start a new line?

If it's crossweaving, I always tie both threads together and hide the knot inside the beads. Weave the remaining threads into the beads some more before cutting them off. Then, cut the new thread and just continue from the last bead you're working.

But if it's just nymo or fireline, you can just weave back into the beads and do half hitch knot.
