Feb. 6th, 2011 @ 02:18 pm [Tutorial] Esther
Tutorial : Esther
Level : Beginner
Technique : Crossweaving

Esther is the lead female protagonist from Trinity Blood, Japanese light novel written by Sunao Yoshida.

Equipment
- Crystal bicone 4 mm. (Light Siam and Garnet)
- Pearl 4 mm. (Bright Gold)
- Pearl 6 mm. (White pearl)
- Seed bead 11/0 (Gold silverlined)
- Jumpring and clasp
- Nylon thread No. 25

Feel free to play with colors. This is fun.

1.

On the comfortable length of thread, string one garnet crystal, two light siam crystals and one garnet crystal. Follow by one bight gold 4mm pearl, one garnet crystal, two light siam crystals and one garnet crystal.

2.

Put the thread into garnet crystal next to the pearl on both sides (red arrows). Try to adjust the position of the pearl in the middle of the thread.

3.

Pick up one thread. Add one bight gold 4mm pearl, two garnet crystals, and two light siam crystals.

4.

Put the thread into the garnet crystal next to the pearl (red arrow).

5.

We do the same for the other side. Add one bight gold 4mm pearl, two garnet crystals and two light siam crystals.

6.

Put the thread into the garnet crystal next to the pearl (red arrow).

7.

Cross both threads at the new bright gold 4mm pearl (red arrow). Pull the threads snugly and adjust the beads into place.

8.

Put the threads into the garnet crystals (red arrows).

9.

The next column will be the same as step 3 -8.

Add one pearl and four crystals.

10.

Put the thread into the crystal next to the pearl.

Pick up the other thread, add one pearl and four crystals.

11.

Put the thread into the crystal next to the pearl (red arrow),

12.

Cross both threads at the new pearl (red arrow). Repeat adding new column until you reach the desired length.

13.

At the end of the bracelet, make the seed beads rings to add jumpring and clasp at the last step. You can make the rings as you wish or it can depend on what kind of clasp you use.

Here I made two rings of seven seed beads. Exit the thread at the garnet crystal. Add seven seed beads. Put the thread back into the first seed bead and into light siam crystal.

If you like how the bracelet looks, you can stop here. Don't forget to make the seed beads rings at the beginning of the bracelet and add jumpring and clasp.

14.

Now we will add the pearl embellishment.

After you make the seed beads rings, cross both threads at the middle bight gold pearl and pull the threads snugly.

Put the thread into the garnet crystal on both sides (red arrows). Add one seed bead and cross both threads at the new 6mm white pearl (blue arrow).

15.

Add one seed bead and put the thread into the garnet crystal on both sides (red arrows). Cross both threads at the middle bight gold pearl (blue arrow).

Repeat step 14 and 15 to the rest of the bracelet. Don't forget the add the seed beads rings at the other side. Add jumprings and clasp and the bracelet is done!

I'll change the clasp for the red bracelet into gold one later. And I think I need to stock more of the beautiful square clasp too.

The blue bracelet used purple velvet and turquoise for crystal and white pearl. I still can't find the right color for 6 mm pearl since I don't stock all colors for pearl. lol Maybe I will end up without pearl embellishments.

If you want something shiny, try AB2X crystals (and ignore the cost of them lol XD). These AB2X colors are metallic blue, turquoise, light siam, rose alabaster and crystal clear. I substitute 4mm pearls to crystal clear AB2X. The 6mm pearls are light blue, power rose and light green.

Here I made two rows. Just follow the tutorial for the base. Make another row by sharing the middle beads and add the pearl embellishments.

Hope you like the tutorial. Happy beading!

This is really beautiful!
May I ask, how long do you usually take to experiment beading until you get a beautiful design?
It seems a little too time-consuming for me... :( Sometimes I really wanted to give up. Seeing your pretty creations makes me feel bad! I wish I can have half your talents.

Anyway, do keep up the good work! You're my role model!

Haha, it's hard to say how long. When my creative muse takes control, most of the time everything will go well. But when it's not, I can go for a week or two without any new thing. lol Experiment is fun and don't give up!
