[Tutorial] Crystals on RAW

Tutorial : Crystals on RAW
Level : Beginner

002

Materials
- Crystal bicone 4mm. (You can pick as many colors as you wish.)
- Seed bead 11/0 (Two colors, but you can go with one color.)
- Seed bead 15/0 (Two colors, but you can go with one color.)
- Nymo D or your favorite thread
- Beading Needle size 10
- Jumpring
- Clasp

This bracelet is very simple. You finish the RAW (right angle weave) base first. Then, weave the crystals on your base. You can make any number of rows as you wish. My recommendation is two rows or three rows, depends on your budgets too. And you can change from crystal bicone or any bead of 4mm.

You can play with colors too. The one with rectangular clasp used Preciosa Czech crystals. The other one with round clasp used Swarovski.

This tutorial will show you with Right Angle Weave method since many of you are familiar with this stitch. You can complete this with crossweaving as well.

1.

001

On comfortable length of thread, pick up one 11/0, three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B, one 11/0, one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A and one 11/0. (Phew, it's easier to look at the photo lol.)

2.

002

Pick up three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B, one 11/0, one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A.

Pass through the first 11/0 (red arrow).

3.

003

Pass through the next 15/0s, 11/0, 15/0s to exit at the 11/0 on the other size (red arrow).

Pick up three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B, one 11/0, one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A and one 11/0.

4.

004

Pick up three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B, one 11/0, one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A. Pass through 11/0 (red arrow).

Pass through the next 15/0s, 11/0 and 15/0s to exit at the 11/0 on the other side (blue arrow).

5.

005

Repeat step 3 and 4 until the desired length. Don't forget to calculate the length your clasp. If you are not sure, just wrap your work around your wrist. You should leave the space between two ends around one inch, or maybe more for your safety. It's always easier to add more length than to reduce it.

If you want to make just one row, exit your thread at the rightmost 11/0 and skip to step 12.

For double or more row, exit your thread at the 11/0 (red arrow).

6.

006

Pick up one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A, one 11/0, three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B, one 11/0, one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A, one 11/0, three 15/0s color A and one 15/0 color B.

Pass through 11/0 (red arrow).

7.

007

Pass through the beads and exit at the leftmost 11/0 (red arrow). Pick up three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B. Pass through 11/0 from the first row (blue arrow).

Pick up one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A and one 11/0.

8.

008

Pick up three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B, one 11/0, one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A. Pass through 11/0 (red arrow).

9.

009

Pass through the beads to exit at the leftmost 11/0 (blue arrow).

Pick up three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B, one 11/0, one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A and one 11/0.

10.

010

Pick up three 15/0s color A, one 15/0 color B. Pass through 11/0 from the previous row (red arrow).

Pick up one 15/0 color B, three 15/0s color A. Pass through 11/0 (blue arrow).

Pass through the beads to exit at the leftmost 11/0 (green arrow).

11.

011

You should get the idea by now how to weave this base. Complete this row or add more rows as you wish.

Do not worry too much if you pick up the wrong colors for 15/0, or just simply use one color only. You see I made mistake at the top leftmost ring too.

12.

012s

Before you weave the crystals to your base for real, just test your colors with the base to see if your colors combo work! It may sound boastful, but I always got compliment about the colors I chose. The truth is choosing the colors is one of the most time consuming step for me.

13.

013

Exit your thread at the 11/0 (red arrow). It can be the rightmost or leftmost 11/0 or top or bottom row. Just exit where you feel convenience. Please take note of the direction, how I exited at 11/0 is with my needle pointing downward. Somehow, if your needle points up, it's nothing wrong with that.

Pick up 15/0, crystal, 11/0, crystal and 15/0. Pass through the 11/0 (blue arrow) with your needle pointing at the same direction how you exited. Your crystals will lay a bit diagonal style.

14.

014

Repeat adding crystals to your base until you reach the other end.

You should exit at 11/0. Pick up 15/0, crystal and pass through 11/0 between crystals.

Pick up crystal and 15/0 and pass through 11/0 at the base (red arrow). If you get it right, your crystals will be crisscrossed.

15.

015

Repeat the previous step. Complete adding crystals to the other end. Exit your thread at 11/0 (red arrow).

16.

016

Remember I made mistake at the top rightmost base! I forget to add 15/0 color B. lol

Weave to the other rows. Just pass through the next 15/0s and to 15/0s from the second rows (red arrow). Exit your thread at 11/0 (blue arrow).

17.

017

Repeat adding crystals like you did the previous row.

001
Add jumpring to the base in the middle row. Add clasp to your jumpring.

Finish!

006

Try using other beads, pearls or fire polished beads to see the different result!

Happy beading!
